Food - The Bastardisation of Sushi

Description

The food group tried to tackle the theme of colonisation in food culture. Is it always related to economic factors? Who owns a certain food culture? How can we learn something about society from food? The discussion touches on glocalisation and cultural appropriation, eventually leading to the bastardisation of food.Through this zine, we ask ourselves and the readers to be conscious and respectful of the tradition and cultural value that are attached to certain food. We focus on one food culture: sushi, as it becomes one of the easiest food to get internationally which also has a deep cultural value. The zine covers the whole history and transformation of the sushi including the change of sushi eating habits through time.
