This talk introduces the artist’s new ink art series, “Rooms of Stories” (有故事的房間), which she completed in China over the past three years. This ongoing series consists of ink paintings on paper and animated videos or installations based on ink paintings.
About the Speaker
PENG Wei is a Chinese female artist based in Beijing. She explores and reflects on Chinese gender issues with the male-dominated form of art – ink paintings. Her works of art have been collected by numerous museums internationally, including the M+ Museum Hong Kong, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Suzhou Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, National Art Museum of China, Cleveland Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, Princeton University Art Museum, etc. Her recent solo exhibitions include “Peng Wei: Feminine Space” (Guangdong Museum of Art, and TKG Foundation for Arts & Culture, Taipei, 2020) and “Rooms of Stories” (Nanchizi Museum, Beijing, 2023).
