Overflowing with objects, cluttered and filled to the brim with identity-forming kitsch, young adult room tours on social media are seemingly the counterpoint to Kondo-culture’s manic downsizing. This video essay explores how the presence and absence of “stuff” is used to form narratives and gauge, construct and evaluate personal traits.
