In our digitally mediated post-modern world, what sound to be natural and immediate experience may be instantaneously "schizophonic". In this performance, the pianist Masafumi improvises open air with not only the amibient sounds of Kyoto but also those sent from Zurich and the whole sonic experience is then remixed by Saburo into a 4-speaker immersive sonic space and fed back to Zurich.
Saburo HIRANO is a Professor at the Faculty of Media Creation, Kyoto SEIKA University. He holds Master of Design and Doctor of Engneering. He started his artistic activities during his undergraduate days, creating sound tracks for video art and computer graphics.
